vegas, vegas
The title of ‘Vegas, Vegas’ refers to the fact that there are at least two cities called ‘Las Vegas’ (meaning: ‘the meadows’) in the American South-West. The first one was built on the Santa Fe trail in New Mexico; the second one was built in the Nevada desert. The album cover work represents both versions of Las Vegas.

05 How does god feel?
The track ‘How does God feel?’ contains a hidden ‘Our Father,’ or ‘Pater Noster,’ if you prefer.
06 sweet little thing
07 soundtrack
Soundtrack to a life, rather than Mountain’s ‘Theme from an imaginary Western.’
08 the killing outside our window at 5am
Some of the time we live face-on to the desert in New Mexico, and in the early morning hours you hear shrieks and calls, which we assume is the sound of roadrunners chasing down jack rabbits.
This is, of course, also a metaphor for all the people in the world who listen to the destruction outside as bombardments land near their doors. In the Ukraine, in Gaza, in Southern Sudan, in Chad, in Libya - in oh so many places - there is destruction outside your window, and the threat of destruction in your home at any minute.
This song is for those who live in fear. Endless fear.

12 race against time
Yeah, another environmental thing, except no one is racing.
13. to the swiftest
This was written to a pre-existing drumming track laid down by a friend of mine, Liam Fox. He had a completely different musical treatment attached to it. I just took the drumming and did my own thing. I don’t think he liked my version very much.
14. give it to the mouse
The same Liam Fox had a really tiny two watt speaker from Eastern Europe called a Mouse Electronics FatAmp. I thought it was fun, so this was a track built around the roar of the Mighty Mouse.
